I have been in touch with a Malaysian company of which I had read they were going to release a 7" 1280x800 car pc monitor kit.

They told me an integrated 7" solution will be announced next week.
It will include a 7" 1280x800 IPS screen, working temperature -20 to +60 degrees Celsius,
a capacitive touchscreen (5-points, I believe) with standard USB HID for Windows 7 and 8, microHDMI input, LVDS scaler and an audio decoder for HDMI.
There are going to be 2 versions: one with a frame like in tablets and one open-frame.
Price will be in $105-$110 range. Rather low I'd say.

There is also going to be a special version for car PC applications, said to be released in May/June.
That one will include an additional AV input for back camera, on-wheel keys support (steering wheel button support, I guess?) and S/PDIF audio output.

The company is called Chalkboard Electronics - http://www.chalk-elec.com/

btw It could well be they use the 400 Nits Chimei-Innolux N070ICG. That one is also available in tablets like the 7" Ainol Novo.

    We'll see.

    That is really low.
I would pay 3-5 times as much if it were sunlight readable and had a proper auto dimming feature. For some reason all companies I ask about auto dimming, never reply to my emails.

Hurry up march the 25th!!! Think im going to get it just for the capacative screen.as the current boards dont support a rear camera which is a pity and almost a requirement for me.
    Love the auto brightness!

    LOL. Same here.

Rear camera support is not really needed in my case. Doing just fine with parking sensors.
I have not yet decided whether to go for a framed or an open frame version, though.
The exact dimensions will be available when a pre-order can be placed, although I did see a drawing some time ago that showed a 177 x 120 mm outer size.
I can probably make the framed version fit almost flush with my dash panel. That would be awesome.

The current information doesn't say it has auto brightness... but their other screen kits do have ambient light sensor support.
Fingers crossed it may be the case with this screen kit as well.

Sorry got excited and just assumed it had auto bright.....hope it does....do we know if its the same driver board as the others? And anyone have any idea on the touch screen chipset they use?saw a refrence to a n-trig cap screen that they use on the 10"model...my main question is...is the usb hid touch screen board separate to the lcd driver board?
I want to use this touch screen and lcd with a ebay sellers board...its the same model screen but the board supports reverse camera.
