    Hi guys,

I already have a solution which will work for me as regards sound, but as always I'm wanting to get the most from it if it's possible.

So on my mainboard I've got the usual 3 x 3.5mm sockets. I understand that I can run them in a quad speaker setup and run LF + RF from one and RR + LR from the other leaving the last one for my mic to be plugged into for phone and voice commands........

My question is, is it possible to configure this last socket to be both mic in and sub out ?

I'm figuring not from what I've read, but thought I'd ask.

As mentioned, I can always just set the sub at a reasonable level and have no CF control, but I thought if there's a possibility then it would be nice.

    Any help is much appreciated.

It is entirely dependant on the software for your onboard sound. Most soundcards or onboard sound these days are software switchable as to what output/input applies to what socket. But I have never seen a mic in/sub out combination on one socket, normally the sub out is lumped with the center out to allow 5.1 surround from the 3 sockets. So I would say no.

Also check to see if your mainboard has any audio headers on it as often there are headers for front panel mic and headphone outs which may be usable seperate from the 3 rear sockets.
